Standard Chartered has hired Dorris Chen as head of China financials research.
Her appointment follows the recent hiring of Erwin Sanft, head of Hong Kong and China equity research, and Jeremy Sutch, head of emerging companies research, strengthening Standard Chartered’s local research capabilities.
Chen started work yesterday, and reports to Sanft. She will be responsible for covering the China banking sector and will also provide a strategic view of the overall China financials sector, integrating her team’s research with China economics and strategy, the global financials sector and fixed income, credit and commodities content.
Chen has more than 10 years of experience on the sell-side, as well as an established client franchise. Prior to joining the Standard Chartered, she held a similar role at BNP Paribas. She also previously covered the China insurance sector with CICC.
Commenting on Chen’s appointment, Sanft said: “[She] is one of the leading equity market commentators on China’s financial services sector. We have one of the broadest Hong Kong/China coverage models among international banks today, with 30 analysts covering 260 stocks. I am confident that [Chen] will add even more credibility and thought leadership to our China franchise ambitions.”
