HSBC has appointed Michael Bevan as head of sovereign wealth funds for the Asia-Pacific region, according to an internal memo seen by FinanceAsia.
Bevan, who leaves his current role as head of equity capital markets for Middle East and Africa, will assist the bank’s SWF clients and liaise with his counterparts in London and the Middle East.
The position is based in Hong Kong and is effective immediately.
Bevan has worked at the UK-based bank since 2000 and helped establish its equity capital markets franchise in the Middle East, while he also worked with M&A and ECM teams in London.
He has more than 15 years of investment banking experience, with a focus on emerging markets.
Bevan will report regionally to Russell Julius, head of banking for Asia-Pacific, and functionally to Evans Haji-Touma, global head of sovereign wealth fund banking globally.
