American Express makes three corporate services appointments

Bill Glenn, Anré Williams and Kim Goodman are given new roles within the firm's global corporate services business.

American Express has made several senior management appointments within its newly renamed global corporate services business, previously known as just global services and established in 2009. Bill Glenn was appointed president of global corporate payments and business travel. Glenn reports to Steve Squeri who heads American Express’s global corporate services business arm. Squeri is also charged with overseeing the firm’s external corporate client business in addition to leading the delivery of shared services across the company internally.

Anré Williams was promoted to president of global merchant services, Glenn’s previous position for four years. Williams has been leading the firm’s global corporate payments business since 2007. In the new role she will be responsible for building the American Express network and delivering value to partner merchants globally. Williams reports to Ed Gilligan, vice-chairman of American Express.

The company also announced that Kim Goodman will be promoted to president of global business travel on January 2 next year. She will replace Charles Petruccelli who will retire at the end of this year. Goodman currently leads the firm’s merchant services Americas group and will continue with her responsibilities until a replacement is found. In her new role she will report to Glenn.

“We are moving forward from a position of strength across all of our businesses: whether driving the digital transformation of our global consumer, small business and network businesses under Ed Gilligan's leadership; expanding into mobile and other new digital payments products outside of our traditional franchise under Dan Schulman's (group president of enterprise growth) leadership; or delivering exceptional customer service and digital solutions that help drive efficiencies for our corporate customers, as well as our own employees, under Steve's leadership,” said Ken Chenault, chairman and chief executive at American Express. “The changes announced will help us further develop our executive talent and help us continue to evolve our business for the digital age.”
