ANZ has promoted Yeekei Chan as head of financial institutions group (FIG), Southeast Asia, India and Middle East.
A spokesperson for ANZ told FinanceAsia told the markets that Chan will cover are: Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, India, Laos and the United Arab Emirates.
Chan (pictured) started the role on March 27 and will continue to be based at ANZ's office in Singapore. He will report to Mark Harding, ANZ's global head of FIG. Harding is also based in Singapore.
Chan has 20 years of international banking experience, most recently as head of FIG, Singapore at ANZ. He started his career at ANZ as part of the graduate program in Sydney, before joining JP Morgan for 11 years in London, according to a statement from the bank.
In his new role, Chan takes on responsibility for leading the long-term strategic direction of the FIG business in the region, focusing on banks, funds, financial sponsors, insurance, public sector and diversified financials. He will also look at opportunities to strengthen the business and drive sustainable revenue, the statement said.
Commenting on Chan's appointment, Harding said: “Yeekei is a highly experienced international banker with a proven track record of delivering strong profitable growth for the FIG business in Singapore. FIG is a priority sector for the bank and I’m pleased that we’re able to appoint talent from within the business to this important role for the bank.”
