Barclays Capital has boosted its coverage of high yield and distressed debt with the hire of Pram Kurniawan as an associate director to cover these areas. He will be based in Singapore.
Pram's arrival is part of new credit research head, Jon Scoffin's efforts to transform Barclays into a top fixed income research house. In FinanceAsia's most recent Fixed Income Research Poll in November, Barclays ranked 8th, jumping from 11th the previous year. Scoffin was recently transferred to Singapore from London where he headed the European corporate coverage team.
Pram joins Barclays from MetLife Investments where he was director of investments. In this role, he actively managed the risk exposures of MetLife's fixed income portfolio in South East Asia and Australia.
Prior to MetLife, Pram worked at Duff & Phelps (now Fitch Ratings) as Corporate Rating Analyst and before that at ABN AMRO in various corporate advisory and analysis roles.
