Bank of America has announced several regional hires in its foreign exchange team and appointed a new head of global emerging markets FX in New York.
In the US firm's Singapore offices, Christy Tan and Yeo Han Sia come onboard as currency strategists. Both will be responsible for covering Southeast Asian markets, for providing macroeconomic, policy and currency analysis and focusing. They will focus their efforts on the Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand and India markets.
Tan comes to BoA from Forecast, where she was most recently a regional markets strategist. Yeo crosses from the Singapore Ministry of Trade and Industry, where he held an economist role. Both will report locally to Chee-Pin Lee, managing director, global FX in Singapore.
From Hong Kong, Steve Wang also joins the bank as a currency strategist and will provide analytical support to the Asian strategy team. Prior to his new appointment, Wang was an employee of Newton Power, a Hong Kong-based electronics research and development firm that is a subsidiary of Taiwan's Delta Electronics.
All three regional hires will report to Lawrence Goodman, who also arrives at the bank as managing director and head of global emerging market foreign exchange strategy. He moves over from the US Department of the Treasury where he spent two years as director and senior fellow of the Office of Quantitative Policy Analysis. Prior to this position, Goodman advised the under secretary and assistant secretary of international affairs on economic and financial issues regarding the global economy, crisis prevention and vulnerabilities.
