Broadridge appoints David Runacres as Apac president in Tokyo

Tokyo-based Runacres joins from LSEG and will also assume the role of Japan senior country officer for Broadridge Financial Solutions.

Global tech firm Broadridge Financial Solutions has appointed David Runacres as president of Asia Pacific (Apac), effective immediately, according to a July 25 company media release.

In addition to leading Broadridge’s Apac regional operations, Tokyo-based Runacres will also assume the role of senior country officer, Japan, overseeing all activities in a market that the company describes as "a key part" of Broadridge's growth strategy. Broadridge also has Apac offices in Sydney, Hong Kong (for Greater China), Singapore, Manila, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Mumbai.

Runacres joins Broadridge from the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), where he spent 12 years as head of Japan.

At LSEG, Runacres led several high-impact projects, including the integration of Refinitiv in Japan and the expansion of LSEG’s footprint across the region. Prior to his time at LSEG, he held key sales roles at firms including SunGard Systems and Thomson Financial, where he worked across market development, client management and operations. He has been based in Hong Kong, Singapore and most recently in Tokyo.

The move follows the creation of a chief operating officer role for its international operations including EMEA and Apac earlier this year. London-based Roz Smith took up the role on May 1.

“David brings over three decades of experience in the Apac region and a proven track record of delivering exceptional results for clients and leading teams,” said Mike Sleightholme, president of Broadridge International, in a media release.

Sleightholme added: “His deep understanding of the market, coupled with his ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and experience in leading cross-business initiatives, makes him uniquely positioned to lead Broadridge’s growth initiatives in the region to help our clients operate, innovate, and grow.”

Runacres added: “I’m thrilled to join Broadridge at such an exciting time and look forward to driving the company’s growth strategy across the Apac region.”
