One of Citibank's best power bankers is moving back to New York. Joe Casson has spent the last seven years in Asia as the bank's senior energy and power transactor within the project and structured trade finance group. During his time in Asia, Casson has focused mainly on Thailand, where he has led a number of key deals. These include Tri Energy, Bowin (Thailand), Ratchaburi and Star Refinery.
But as Citi loses one from Asia, two more are coming out. Daisy Yao is moving from New York to Hong Kong to join Casson's old group focusing on energy and power. She has been in New York for the past two years working on merchant power deals. As many Asian countries move towards this industry structure, her experience should be invaluable.
Also returning with a new skill set is Peter Ho. Ho will be coming back to Citi in Hong Kong from New York in October. He has been working with the structured bond team in the US and is looking to bring such a product back with him into the Asian project finance group. On his return he will run the energy and power group and will report to Saadia Khairi, Citi's head of Asian project finance.
