David Leahy has resigned from Citco Fund Services in Sydney and will return to Hong Kong in mid-March to spearhead sales and marketing for prime brokering at Credit Suisse First Boston - in time to make his debut at the CSFB-sponsored Hong Kong Rugby Sevens tournament.
He will fill the gap at CSFB following last autumn's departure of William Tye for hedge fund manager PMA, and will report to Rob Barker, CSFB's head of international prime broking in London.
Tye had resigned about the same time that Leahy transferred from Citco's Hong Kong office to Sydney. Leahy has been with Citco for five years, including stints in Curacao and British Virgin Islands. He arrived in Hong Kong with the mandate to create a hedge fund administration business from scratch, and leaves with over $2 billion under administration for clients in India, Japan, Hawaii, Asia and, following his move to Sydney, Australia.
Prior to joining Citco, Leahy, a qualified barrister from Ireland, had also worked at Andersen Consulting. Citco is reviewing both internal and external candidates to replace him. The role reports to William Keunen, global director of Citco Fund Services in Miami.
