Victor Yuan has joined his new boss Chris Laskowski in transferring from the US to Hong Kong as Citi seeks to build its private equity coverage for the region.
Yuan has moved to Hong Kong as a director in the private equity group, which Citi terms the financial entrepreneurs group (FEG). Yuan will be advising financial sponsors and the companies they invest in on a variety of strategic and financial matters including M&A, and debt and equity raising. Specifically, he is responsible for Citi's financial sponsor coverage for Greater China.
Before he relocated to Hong Kong, Yuan spent seven years in Citi's New York office covering both global and US based private equity firms and other alternative asset managers.
"China continues to represent a significant opportunity for financial sponsors and we believe Citi is well positioned to help financial sponsors access the market by leveraging our unmatched investment, corporate and commercial banking platform," said Chris Laskowski, chief operating officer of global banking for Asia-Pacific as well as head of FEG for the region.
Laskowski himself relocated from Chicago to Hong Kong in the middle of last year to take on his dual responsibility. At the time, Laskowski indicated that new hires were on the cards.
