Citigroup named Amol Gupte as its country officer for Singapore and head of Asean, succeeding Michael Zink, who is retiring after 28 years at the US bank.
In this role, Gupte will oversee all of Citi Singapore’s businesses and operations, and be responsible for the leadership of Citi’s Asean (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) markets, the bank said in a statement on Friday.
Gupte will relocate from Hong Kong to Singapore and continue to report to Asia Pacific CEO Francisco Aristeguieta.
Pending regulatory approval for Gupte's appointment as Singapore country officer, Patrick Dewilde, Singapore based head of Asia Pacific markets and securities services, will serve as interim Singapore country officer.
A 27-year Citi veteran, Gupte was previously regional head of treasury and trade solutions in Asia Pacific, which provides cash management and trade finance services to multinational corporations, financial institutions and public sector organisations in Asia.
He started his career with Citi in the consumer bank in India with roles in sales, product management and treasury.
