Citigroup Smith Barney has appointed Markus Rosgen as managing director and head of regional strategy. To be based in Hong Kong, Rosgen replaces Ajay Kapur, who has been promoted to head of global equity strategy in the US. In his new position, Rosgen will report to Otto Wong, managing director and head of Asia Pacific equity research.
Rosgen joins Citi from Asia ING financial markets Hong Kong and prior to this was a vice president in research for Morgan Stanley in Hong Kong and London.
Rosgen holds an MBA in banking and finance from the University of Birmingham business school and a BA (Hons) from the University of Essex, majoring in Western European politics and French.
"Rosgen is a well respected strategist enjoying an outstanding ranking in the industry," comments Wong. "His wealth of research experience in Asia as well as Europe will add tremendous value to the business."
