Citi names Robert Stewart as Asia head of equities trading

The former head of Citi’s Apac equity derivatives trading will relocate from Singapore to Hong Kong and cover Asia South, Japan, Asia North and Australia.

Robert Stewart has been named as Citi’s new Asia South and Japan, Asia North and Australia (Jana) head of equities trading, with immediate effect.

As a result, Stewart will relocate from Singapore to Hong Kong. According to Stewart's LinkedIn profile his new position at the US bank is Asia head of equity trading and co-head of equities.

Stewart joined Citi in London in 2011 and has been based in Asia since 2017, where he most recently ran the bank’s equity derivatives trading operations for Asia Pacific (Apac). Prior to that he was Citi's head of Apac exotics trading, according to his LinkedIn profile. 

Stewart’s new position was announced via an internal company memo sent from Fater Belbachir, Citi’s global head of equities, and seen by FinanceAsia.

Stewart is replacing Arnaud Leteissier in the equities role, who left the bank earlier this year. Before becoming Citi's head of Apac equity trading in June 2022, Leteissier was the bank's head of Apac equity derivatives trading.
