Richard Gibb will be one of four managing directors to join Deutsche Bank's financial institutions group (FIG), part of its global banking division. He will be co-head of FIG in Asia-Pacific.
Gibb will be based in Hong Kong where he will work alongside Bill Nicholl, the other FIG co-head for the region. While both will cover Asia, Gibb will also be active in Australia, while Nicholl will have an additional focus on Japan.
In Asia, Gibb will report to Alex Manson, head of global banking coverage Asia Pacific. His global reporting line will be to Jorge Calderon, co-head of global corporate finance coverage and global head of the financial institutions group.
The new hire joins from Merrill Lynch where he was previously head of FIG for Asia-Pacific as well as head of the financial sponsors group for the region. He is one of 12 new hires to join the German bank's global FIG team, all of whom are coming from Bank of America-Merrill Lynch.
