Goldman Sach’s president and co-head of its China investment banking division Hansong Zhu is retiring, according to a memo seen by FinanceAsia.
The 19-year veteran of the firm is also head of the industrial and natural resources group in Asia excluding Japan, as well as general manager of Goldman’s securities joint venture Goldman Sachs Gao Hua.
Goldman established the securities joint venture in 2004 and applied for majority control of the entity earlier this year as China moves to open up its financial sector to foreign investment.
Zhu joined Goldman as an associate in 2000 and was named managing director in 2005 and partner in 2008.
