As part of an ongoing strategy to bolster its global derivatives business, Bear Stearns has announced the appointment of Edward M. Ho as a senior managing director and head of structured equity product sales in non-Japan Asia. Ho will be based in Hong Kong and jointly report to Leonard Feder, head of derivatives for Asia and branch manager for Japan and Don Martocchio, global head of structured equity products/sales.
In his new role, Ho takes on responsibility for the structuring and distribution of equity structured investment products across Asia ex-Japan and joins the firm from Merrill Lynch Hong Kong, where for five years he was a director running its equity linked investment product distribution group in Hong Kong.
Also joining Bear Stearns from Merrill and reporting to Ho, is Joseph Chan who comes on board as a managing director in Asian structured equity products. At Merrill Lynch, Chan led the firm's Taiwan coverage franchise and was a principal architect in building its Hong Kong and Singapore distribution businesses.
According to Bear Stearns, a third member will join this team in Tokyo as an associate.
