Leon Goldfeld has left AXA Rosenberg to join HSBC Asset Management in Hong Kong as investment director. It is a new position in which he will be responsible for global portfolios, reporting to Ayaz Ebrahim, Asia equities CIO in Hong Kong, and Chris Cheetham, global CIO in London.
Ebrahim says the need for a new role derives from the importance of HSBC's global balanced and global equities mandates. "We need a specialist who can link with the global portfolio team in London to develop accounts in this region," he says. "In Hong Kong we've got Asia specialists, but not global ones."
Goldfeld is a 16-year industry veteran, most recently as deputy CIO at AXA Rosenberg, where he managed the Hong Kong equity team and the Singapore fixed income team, as well as responsibility for global balanced funds and Mandatory Provident Fund portfolios.
Goldfeld begins today, June 1. Meanwhile at AXA, Nigel Richardson has been named the new regional CIO. Richardson transferred to Hong Kong a few weeks ago from London, where he had served as senior strategist. He now reports to Liao Chan, regional CEO in Singapore (Liao replaced Tony Archer early this year when Archer transferred to Australia).
