HSBC names Korea CEO

Bank veteran replaces Rick Pudner.

HSBC has named Simon Cooper as its new president and CEO of Korea. He replaces Rick Pudner, who is leaving the bank at the end of March.

Cooper takes the role after being internally promoted from his current position as head of corporate and investing banking in Singapore, a post he has held since January 2004. Prior to this role, he held the title of deputy CEO of HSBC in Thailand and head of corporate and investment banking in the country.

Since he joined HSBC in 1989, Cooper has worked in the bank's London and Singapore investment banking teams. Pudner, meanwhile, departs the group after 26 years. His posts within the group include roles as head of corporate and investment banking in the Middle East and senior manager business strategy for HSBC's European payments and cash management business.
