Salomon Smith Barney (SSB) has promoted Huan Guo Cang to vice chairman in Asia. He will develop the firms business opportunities in China, in addition to managing its senior investment banking client relationship in China.
Huan has been co-head of Asian investment banking focusing on China with Sanjiv Misra, who becomes the division's head.
Huan joined the firm in 1997 from BZW, where he was managing director and head of greater China investment banking. Misra was with Goldman Sachs for almost 10 years, before joining SSB in 1997.
"Both Guo Cang and Sanjiv are to be commended for their success in building our corporate finance and advisory business across the region over the last year and a half. I am confident that they will bring the same level of commitment to their new roles," says Robert R. Morse, managing director and co-head of global investment banking at SSB.
