J.P. Morgan has appointed Yoshihiro Katsumura head of equity capital markets (ECM) for Japan, reporting to Doug Howland and Kester Ng. His promotion is effective immediately.
“During his five years at J.P. Morgan, Yoshihiro has been a key contributor to our ECM success and pivotal to executing our strong equity pipeline in difficult markets. He brings a wealth of experience to the team, having played a key role in the origination and execution of many of our most important equity and equity-linked deals -- such as the follow-on equity offerings for Inpex, SMFG and All Nippon Airways, and the Casio convertible bond,” Howland and Ng, joint heads of equity capital and derivative markets (ECDM) for Asia-Pacific, said in an internal announcement seen by FinanceAsia.
This is a newly created role designed to further strengthen J.P. Morgan’s equities platform in Japan. Howland has been running ECM in Japan as the head of ECDM and will continue in this latter role as well as his dual position as head of debt capital markets. In May, Ng and Howland became joint heads of ECDM for the entire Asia-Pacific region, including Japan and Australia.
Prior to joining the firm, Katsumura spent 13 years at Goldman Sachs in ECM and in the equity and convertible sales teams.
