Japan's Meiji Yasuda Life buys Legal & General America for $2.28bn

The deal includes an agreement to buy Banner Life, enter a partnership in the US pension risk transfer business, and an intention to take a 5% shareholding in Legal & General Group.

Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance has reached an agreement with the UK's Legal & General Group (L&G) to acquire 100% of L&G’s US holding company, named Legal & General America (LGA), and its subsidiaries, which includes Banner Life and Legal & General America Reinsurance.
