Feng Zhang will become the latest member to join the JPMorgan China reserach team, coming on board as senior China metals and mining analyst.
To be based in Shanghai from mid-July, Zhang departs CLSA, where he also worked in the metals and mining research team. He has also worked within equity research at Morgan Stanley and accumulated his expertise at the Chinese metals trading company, Shaanxi Metals and Materials International.
Zhang's hiring follows a recent spree by JPMorgan to bolster its China research coverage. His appointment comes after the announcement earlier this month that four analysts will join its Shanghai operations. Zhang will report to the Shanghai office with fellow new appointees Choon-Ming Tan (financial institutions), Jesse Friedlander (conglomerates), Milton Lim (utilities) and Vicki Kalb (consumer).
He will directly report to the recently appointed head of China research and chief China economist, Frank Gong.
