Kim moves to Macquarie

Australian bank picks up new Korean ECM head.

Hyeon Young Kim has departed Samsung Securities and joined at Macquarie Securities as division director, head of equity capital markets. He has already joined the Seoul office of the Australian bank and will assume responsibility for all Korean equity capital markets deals.

In what is a newly created position, Kim will have three reporting lines. He will directly report to John Walker, Macquarie’s Korean country head and also to Nicholas Moore, head of Asian investment banking group. In addition he will report into Michael Carapiet, head of infrastructure, utilities resources and TMET.

At Samsung Securities, Kim was most recently head of international finance, a position he has held from 2002. His position at Samsung included responsibility for internationals offerings of Korean companies.

Prior to this, he was managing director of Samsung Securities Europe between 2001 and 2002, and president of Samsung Securities America from 1999 to 2001.
