Linklaters has made a key move in bolstering its regional securitisation practice by bringing Paul Kruger to its Tokyo offices from rival firm Clifford Chance. Joining Linklaters’ Tokyo practice, Kruger comes to the firm as partner and will continue to focus on international securitisation, non-performing loans acquisitions, and property and tax-based financings.
In his new role, Kruger will manage a pan-Asian practice, which principally covers markets in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China and Singapore.
Kruger’s arrival represents yet another significant step by the firm to its clients in Japan. Recently, Linklaters elected Mitsuhiro Yasuda and Akihiro Wani as partners specialising in capital markets, derivatives & structured finance, and corporates. Upon poaching two of its leading lawyers, Linklaters also convinced more than 20 members of Mitsui Yasuda Wani and Maeda to join the firm.
At Clifford Chance in Tokyo, Kruger held the position of head of Asian capital markets and has also practiced in Hong Kong, where he was an essential component in setting up its Asia securitisation practice in 1992.
