Jardine Matheson announced a series of moves by top finance professionals last week in the wake of John Slack's departure from Jardine's Indonesian auto subsidiary Astra International. Slack stepped down from his position as a director of Astra at last week's AGM in Jakarta. He is understood to have retired.
Simon Mawson will move from Hong Kong to Jakarta to take the senior financial role at Astra International, where he will also sit on the board. Mawson moves from the head office of Jardine Matheson where he was group treasurer.
According to James Riley, CFO of Jardine Matheson, Mawson has been group treasurer of Jardine Matheson since 2001 where he has worked on centralizing the group's funding and cash management as well as helping the subsidiaries in their overall treasury management.
Replacing his as group treasurer at head office will be Jim Rush who moves from his position a group treasurer of Dairy Farm. He has been with Dairy Farm since 1998 when he joined from PwC. Since 1998 he has worked in Indonesia, Australia and Hong Kong.
Sources at Jardine say that no decision has yet been made on who will replace Rush as group treasurer of Dairy Farm, and this position could be filled either internally or externally.
