William McGrath has joined Lehman Brothers as director of Asian research (ex-Japan). Based in Hong Kong, McGrath will be responsible for building and expanding research capabilities for non-Japan Asia, as well as increasing the momentum of the Lehman Brothers equity research franchise.
Having worked in the region for 15 years, McGraths career includes experience in Hong Kong, China and Taiwan. Previously, he was with Morgan Stanley Securities Asia where he served as associate director of Asian research with responsibility for the teams covering technology, telecoms, Korea and Taiwan. Prior to Morgan Stanley, he was the chief operating officer of Asian equities for Warburg Dillon Read in Hong Kong a position he assumed after running S.G. Warburgs Taiwan branch office.
McGrath, a fluent Mandarin speaker, holds a Bachelors degree in history/international relations from Hunter College in New York, and has done extensive graduate work in Chinese studies and business at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and at New York Universitys Stern School of Business.
