Morgan Stanley has enticed Rieko McCarthy away from JPMorgan to become a member of its global credit research team in Tokyo. McCarthy joined the firm in May as executive director, credit research and will report to Shinji Okabe, managing director and head of the Japan credit research team.
In her new role, McCarthy will cover Japanese banks, non-banks and other domestic financial institutions. She takes over the Japanese bank coverage from Okabe, who will now focus on Japanese government agencies, municipalities and various industrial companies.
At JPMorgan Tokyo, McCarthy was the senior bank analyst and co-head of Japan credit research. Before moving to Japan, McCarthy was based in New York with Moody's as a senior credit officer of the financial institutions group, researching Japanese banks and trading companies. She also held a bank analyst position with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
