Nomura hires Wong from BNP Paribas

Jim Wong will originate research on the transport and infrastructure sectors for the Japanese bank.
Nomura has appointed Jim Wong as head of Asia transport and infrastructure research as the firm aims to build up its coverage of these sectors. Wong was most recently head of transport sector research at BNP Paribas.

The job at Nomura is a newly created position. Wong will be based in Hong Kong and report to Stewart Callaghan, the firmÆs head of Asia research division, who was also hired from BNP Paribas about 12 months ago. Callaghan moved to Nomura with a mandate to significantly expand the Asian research team.

ôWe are delighted that Jim has joined us in the Asia research division. JimÆs great experience and depth of knowledge of the transport sector across the region will undoubtedly prove an asset to the division and the company as a whole,ö says Callaghan in a written statement.

In the industry since 1992, Wong spent 10 years with BNP Paribas and was ranked the third best regional analyst for transportation in 2006 by the Asiamoney Brokers Poll. Before that he worked for CLSA and Bank of East Asia.
