We toasted the Philippines' best managed companies late last month at a dinner hosted by FinanceAsia and Maybank ATR Kim Eng. More than 100 senior executives, bankers and regulators turned up at the Makati Shangri-La hotel in Manila to acknowledge the companies named in our 12th annual Best Managed Companies poll.
The event recognised companies in the Philippines for their commitment to good corporate governance, effective investor relations and strong shareholder value, as well as acknowledging their efforts to be good corporate citizens. PLDT and Ayala Corp swept three categories each, with Ayala taking the honour of Best Managed Company in the Philippines.
Guests included the winners of the individual awards, Best CEO Manny Pangilinan, of PLDT, and Best CFO Ricardo Tan, of Vista Land. Maybank ATR Kim Eng sponsored the event and the firm's frontmen — Ramon Arnaiz, Manuel Tordesillas and Lorenzo Roxas — presented the plaques.
