The Royal Bank of Scotland has appointed Ramit Bhasin to head its markets business in India. Bhasin takes over as the head of markets for ABN AMRO India, a subsidiary of RBS, replacing Arun Khurana who has been transferred to Singapore to head solution sales and corporate risk solutions regionally.
Bhasin will be responsible for the sales and trading platform across money markets, rates, foreign exchange, credit and commodities. He will report locally to Madan Menon, who is the country head of global banking and markets for ABN AMRO India, and regionally to Pierre Ferland, who heads markets for Asia-Pacific at RBS.
Bhasin was earlier chief executive officer at RB Partners, a firm he founded. He has also worked at HSBC as head of interest rates and cross currency swaps in New York and London; at Citi in London where he was responsible for rates and capital trading for Europe, Middle East and Africa; and at Salomon Smith Barney in New York where he was the global head of dollar swap trading.
In August, RBS hired Anil Gudibande to head corporate financing and risk solutions for India. Gudibande had earlier worked in the private equity team at AIG Investments in India and at Citi.
