Will Shropshire has joined Standard Chartered in Singapore as the head of foreign exchange options trading for Asia and as the global head of foreign exchange investor products. Shropshire joins from Deutsche Bank where he was the co-head of foreign exchange options for Asia.
The hire is designed to give Standard Chartered new products and ideas as it seeks to serve wholesale and retail banking clients in the fast growing regional FX options market. "Will's appointment will enable us to expand our unrivalled customer franchise in Asia through increased trading capability, focus on new products and idea generation," says Richard Leighton, the global head of FX options at Standard Chartered, to whom Shropshire will report.
Shropshire's dual role will also see him focus on all aspects of the delivery and development of foreign exchange products for the bank's investor clients. "We are delighted to be able to draw on Will's expertise not just for the benefit of our wholesale banking clients, but also to meet the wealth management needs of our retail investor clients," says Nick Beecroft, global head of FX trading, to whom Shropshire also reports.
Before working at Deutsche Bank, Shropshire worked for nine years at JPMorgan Chase as a manager in the Asian FX options division.
