Standard Chartered has promoted Ashutosh Kumar as its new global head of corporate cash and trade product management to replace Tan Kah Chye who joined Barclays Corporate as its new head of trade and working capital in April this year.
Kumar is based in Singapore for his new role and is responsible for delivering overall cash management and trade finance profit and loss, strategy and product development across Standard Chartered’s global network. He reports to George Nast, Standard Chartered’s global head of product management for transaction banking.
In this global role, Kumar said he is looking forward to leading the bank’s corporate cash and trade product management team to “to deliver innovative, end-to-end suites of cash management and trade finance solutions to support our clients’ growth ambitions across our footprint in the emerging markets of Asia, Africa and the Middle East”.
Kumar has more than 15 years of banking experience and joined Standard Chartered in 2005. He was most recently the bank’s global head of local corporate products and receivables management. In his previous role he was responsible for transforming the transaction banking product management business to be more focused on the client segment. He was also responsible for leading the commercialisation of open account trade products and developing integrated receivables and collections products. The bank could not confirm if it has found a replacement for Kumar’s previous role.
“I am confident that Ashutosh will play a key role in driving the continued client focus strategy of the corporate cash and trade product organisation,” said Nast. “The wealth of experience Ashutosh brings to the team will play an integral role in our commitment to develop the strategies needed to ensure delivery of world-class and client focused working capital solutions to our corporate clients.”
