Andrew Steadson is to leave his leasing and structured asset role behind to take up the post as general manager of Hong Kong, reporting to ANZ's managing director for Asia, David Hornery.
Steadson will act as country head in Hong Kong but will also have regional responsibility for the development of customized products and finance services for the utilities, transport and healthcare industry segments. He will co-ordinate local relationship management, industry segment and product specialist capabilities for the bank in the region.
Hornery says Steadson will focus on three customer segments – financial institutions, corporate and private client. "His experience will be important as we focus on the utilities, transport and healthcare industry segments in the region," says Hornery. "Appointing someone of his calibre is a demonstration of our commitment to Asia."
Steadson joined ANZ in 1988 and is currently the co-head of the bank's leasing and structured asset finance business. He has held a variety of roles in the institutional bank and has developed a particular expertise in the financing and management of transportation assets.
His posting follows two other senior appointments for ANZ in the region in the last few months. Jason Bahnsen was made director of natural resources in Japan and Kamraan Shariff was promoted to director of the financial institutions group in Singapore. ANZ now has 600 skilled professionals working in 11 countries in Asia.
