"This is a significant coup for Clifford Chance and demonstrates our ambition to provide our clients with access to the very best Indian expertise," says managing partner David Childs. "This is a logical development of our growing India Group, which has been advising clients on Indian matters for over 50 years, and is preparing to offer services in India as soon as regulations allow. Rahul will provide our clients with a formidable combination of international and Indian expertise and experience."
The firm's India Group currently has more than 195 members spread across 16 offices in 12 countries. Indian regulations do not allow foreign law firms to practise in India with the result that their India teams have to be based outside the country.
