While regional giants Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines dominated the first half of our annual business travel poll, it was a far more competitive picture when it came to hotels destinations.
Only one hotel in the region can boast that it got more than 40% of votes in its country — the Park Hyatt Saigon, which got around 43.5% of votes for hotels in Ho Chi Minh City. Among the other hotels, winning percentages of around 25% were the norm.
Old favourites from previous years' surveys appeared alongside new names. As well as winning the vote in Ho Chi Minh City, the Park Hyatt also won in Beijing and Sydney, while Park Hyatt or Grand Hyatt hotels were voted in the top three in Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei and Tokyo.
Mandarin Oriental, meanwhile, won the top spot in Bangkok, Hong Kong and Macau, as well as finishing in the top three in Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta and Tokyo. The Four Seasons scooped the top spot in Jakarta and Mumbai, as well as getting top three in Bangkok, Hong Kong, Macau and Sydney.
Among other winners where Shangri-La in Kuala Lumpur and Manila, the ITC Maurya Sheraton in New Delhi, the Westin Chosun in Seoul, the Peninsula in Shanghai, the W in Taipei, and the Ritz-Carlton in Tokyo.
