Matthew Ginsburg steps down as regional head of investment banking to take a position in the firm outside the region.

Jason Rynbeck, Barclays’ vice-chairman of M&A Asia-Pacific, has left the bank for another firm.

Dealmaking in China is off to a solid start in 2014 but most bankers advising companies in the Middle Kingdom may still struggle to make money.

Ed King, who jumped ship from Morgan Stanley to Barclays Capital in June, will head M&A for the British investment bank, while Jason Rynbeck will become vice-chairman.

A spokesperson at Morgan Stanley confirms that Ed King will be leaving the firm and says he will be succeeded by Samuel Kim and Peter Ding, who have been appointed co-heads of M&A for Asia-Pacific.

Johan Leven, who was at Goldman Sachs until last year, will join Barclays Capital as co-head of corporate finance.
