The US asset manager raises a combined $552 million from two transactions, which were completed on the same night that AIG was in the market selling AIA shares.
The block was done after the close on Friday. Also in the market at the same time was a $342 million sell-down in Indonesian telecom tower company Sarana Menara Nusantara.
The US insurer sells less than one-third of its remaining stake in AIA, prompting speculation it may remain a long-term shareholder. It also plans to buy back up to $5 billion of its own shares from the US government.
